Karen Mutton

Her Journey

Karen’s love for history began with her education at the University of Sydney, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English, History and Anthropology, along with a Diploma in Education in 1981. As a retired ancient history high school teacher and university lecturer, she has spent years sharing her enthusiasm with students, bringing the past to life in the classroom. Her curiosity led her beyond traditional boundaries, taking her to archaeological wonders like Petra, Machu Picchu, Giza, Copan and many more, where she gathered insights that fuel her writing.

A mother of three based in Australia, Karen balances her family life with her relentless pursuit of knowledge. Whether researching lost civilisations, speaking at events, or running local community groups, Karen has a zeal for pushing frontiers in ancient history, archaeology and human origins.
